As an eight-year veteran of New York City’s renowned Park Avenue salon, Mizu, Michael Max Gierl brings his finely-honed craft to Houston. After studying at the Aveda Institute, Michael trained with some of New York's great stylists, including Dimitrios Tsiousmas, Raymond McClaren, Damian Santiago and Brian Buenaventura.
Michael has a reverence for classic hairdressing style and technique, masterfully blended with current trends. He specializes in precision haircutting and prides himself on his ability to have a thorough consultation with clear communication, delivering perfect results tailored to each client. He is also a certified Great Lengths Hair Extensions stylist.
As an educator, Michael created the Styling Foundations class for the Mizu Apprenticeship Program. Over the past five years, he has taught over 20 stylists through this core training program.
Michael has styled hair for New York Fashion Week, Broadway theater, and other prominent NYC events. He has worked with brands such as Hermes, Diane von Furstenberg, Clinique, L’Occitane and Bergdorf Goodman. His work has also been featured on QVC for Tabatha Coffee and in People Style Watch, Paper and Let’s Panic. He was also the U.S. finalist of Goldwell’s Color Zoom Challenge in London.
